Budgie’s Journal #177 – Completed Drafts by an Incomplete Human

This post has been sitting in my “drafts” pile on WordPress for days with no actual words to press. It had the title “Completed Drafts”, and I added the second part this morning. I guess I’m going to jump around a bit, so strap that ass in and hold onto your tits.

Blame me feeling incomplete on the retrograde, I dare you. And why not? That’s what I’ve been doing since it started, and I’ll continue to do so until it ends on the nineteenth. It’s a time of productivity halts and wishy-washy feelings. It’s a time to move backwards and revel in shunted growth.

But I have completed drafts!

That’s right. I finished second drafting of both I’m in Sci-fi Hell and Lost Women of the Admiral Inn (formerly titled Whore Ghosts of the Admiral Inn). But I’m not self-publishing, not anytime soon anyway.

I guess this is a good a time as any to tell you, my loyal readers, that I’ll be seeking out traditional publishing for these and all future works. I’m querying those agents hard after labor day. You guys know any who’d be interested???

This is the next step. I queried Ant-Head, but I gave up way too easily. It’s balls to the wall moving forward. Go big or go fuck yourself. Live hard or die trying. Snappy response number four not found.

Will I feel better once I’ve landed that big fish of an agent? I guess. That’s the ultimate goal here, isn’t it? Why bother doing anything if you refuse to do it right? What’s there to gain without a little risk?

So I apologize for not releasing these books after teasing them for months, only I’m not sorry. I got more coming. I’ll begin a second draft on my short story collection Nightfall, and I’ll query that too. I’m five thousand words into Kai the Swordsman too, and I’ll also be querying that sometime early next year.

Look out world, Budgie isn’t fooling around anymore. Let me suckle at your mammoth teet or blast me away with a bolt of lightning, because I’m not going away that easily.
