Budgie’s Journal #162 – WIP Wednesday 19: The Return of #WIPWednesday
It’s been weeks, maybe months since I’ve done one of these. I post a weekly tweet from my Million and One Twitter, asking our followers to fill us in on their work in progress, and I haven’t even done a recent post on my blog… How selfish of me.
I’ve been furiously working on the second draft of I’m in Sci-fi Hell, my big foray into the world of sci-fi satire. The book is huge, like the bulk of the genre. I’ve also been working on the cover, making it the first one I’ve done myself. I’m not ready to reveal yet, but it’s been looking good if I can toot my own horn for a moment.
I’ve also been working on some promo art…
Getting back to the book; it’s a complex plot in a world where anything sci-fi can and will happen. I turn the genre on its ass and try to hit every nerd-loving point of it.
Jumping into sci-fi wasn’t a simple task. I’ve been writing fiction for years: horror, fantasy, romance, comedy, sitcoms, etcetera, but I’ve never written a full-on sci-fi book. It does take time and a lot of pages to build your world while you’re telling your story, and I give a ton of credit to those who specialize in the genre. I just hope I do it justice, and I’m working diligently to do it properly and reach that goal.
This book was a lot of fun for me to write and polish, and I’m looking forward to sharing Ray Samson’s Sci-fi Hell with the world in the near future.
Stay tuned, dear reader.
