Budgie’s Journal #160 – The End of an Error

Tonight is a special night for myself and for America. Tonight, The Trumps Season One comes to a close.

It was a wild ten-episode ride we took with the fictional Neighborhood Association President Donald Trump in his fictional suburban setting with the fictional version of his family.

I can’t use the word “fictional” enough. Even though it’s obviously not the real President Trump, some people still need reminding, even with this disclaimer at the start of every episode:

The Trumps is a work of “fiction,” a “satire,” a “parody.” Any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely “coincidental”, and this story is not meant to bear any political opinions.

So the show is about to reach its climax around eight tonight. I wasn’t sure I’d have enough material to fill a few episodes, let alone ten, but the real Donald gave me tons of ammo every time I refreshed my news feed. Hell, the news even started taking ideas from me. I wrote the Melania is Missing episode weeks ago, before she was actually missing in action.

There are those who have told me I nailed the tone and did not disappoint. There are also those who said I hit the nail so dead-on that they can’t read it, being reminded of the real stream of bullshit that is our president’s dialogue. I admit that some of this was really hard to write, especially Donald giving Barron girl advice and Mike Pence talking about his views on homosexuality. There were a lot of points in this show that gave me douche-chills.

Haven’t read it? Check out the first nine episodes:

Meet the Trumps
Two Pences, None the Richer
Sensual Misconduct
Mint Jared (because he’s on the lamb)
The Ballad of Rover Trump
Donald, Uninvited
Nepotism: America’s Favorite Pastime
Donald VS The Fake News
Melania is Missing

Caught up? Good. The finale, All Huge Things Must Come to an End, premieres tonight, and I’m told the ending does not disappoint.

But Donald never does.

P.S. Writing Barry Beer, a story featuring Barack Obama and craft beer, was an excellent pallet cleanser after working on The Trumps. I suggest you check that out and cleanse your own…
