Budgie’s Journal #114 – 2018 Preview
Hello again. I haven’t updated in a week, and you get two posts in one day. Lucky you.
The post I made earlier today eluded to the projects I’m working on for next year. Rather than bog that post down, I held off until just now. So, here it is!
Dusk Volume 2
This collection of short stories is in the final stages of editing. It has a definite dark, demonic touch that my fans have come to enjoy from my short fiction. I expect this out before January ends. This is the culminating of over a year’s worth of writing.
Ant-Head: A Love Story
This is my second attempt at a romantic comedy, this time focusing on an somewhat-awkward fan fiction writer who’s obsessed with sitcoms. This is an homage to a number of real-life events, mixed in with plenty of fiction. I was shooting for Valentine’s Day, but I don’t think it will be ready in time. I’m leaning more toward March. I definitely had a few laughs reading this one back.
I’m in Sci-fi Hell (parts one and two)
Part one is completely written, and part two is partially done. The former is in the hands of beta readers, who assure me they’ll read once the holiday rush is over.
This a sci-fi comedy, set in a world where any old trope can be a reality. I take the story from the big city to magic forests to dinosaur islands to prison cities and a while lot of places in between. This story was wildly entertaining to write, and the second part is just as much fun. I tear the genre a new wormhole.
This will probably act as my summer blockbuster.
The Whore Ghosts of the Admiral Inn
I’ve talked about this at length. I had a lot of fun on this one too, mixing comedy, horror, and suspense. The result was amazing, and I’m very proud of it. The first draft is written, but I’ll be publishing for Halloween. When else would you publish a ghost story?
So that’s what I’m definitely releasing next year (God willing). I will be working on other projects as well (I never stop). Notably will be the third volume of Dusk, which may be released at the end of the year or beginning of the following depending on timing. I plan on rewriting/releasing an old story of mine that was called Roland Hawthorne as a bigger story called Steam Age. There’s also an untitled Blood Drive sequel in the works too. I know a lot of people enjoyed that one (so why won’t any of you leave a review?). There will be more Freedom Lane and general nonsense too. Stay tuned.
This is goodbye until I write the 2017 year in review…
