I’m doing things a little different at the moment. I had an influx of ideas recently, three to be exact. I’ve been blogging about them little by little too. Ant-Head; a love story, I’m in Sci-fi Hell, and The Whore Ghosts of the Admiral Inn. All stories have required my attention on and off over the last month or so, and I’ve been hopping around.
I got to a comfortable spot to pause Sci-fi Hell, around 15k words. I worked on Ant-Head over the last few days, and I’m just at 15k with that one too. Whore Ghosts is just started, but I’m about to hit the meat of the story at around 7k.
I don’t normslly work like this. Typically I’ll have a book to write and a book to edit, keeping up with the cycle and pace I’ve set for myself over the last couple of years. But I like the fact that I have three books with three different genres, all of which stem from a satiric standpoint.
But the title said I had four books I’m working on, didn’t it? The fourth is Blood Drive, of course, my buddy action / comedy about two vampires who stole a van of blood from the Red Cross, the werewolf they hired to help them drive it from Connecticut to California, and the priest out to kill them and recover their stolen cargo.
I recently finished my second draft, revising the text and adding some meat to the story. All that’s left is my edit for grammar and eventual formatting. I should hit my early October due date with no issues.
I really had fun with this one, and I think it shows. I loved these characters and how they interact with each other on their cross- country journey. It sucked that it had to end, but who wants to invest time in a story with no ending? I’m just hoping anyone who reads it has as much fun doing so as I did writing it.
So there’s my update. I’ve moved on to work a bit on I’m in Sci-fi Hell, so that will be my focus for the next few days at least. And soon, I’ll be starting those pesky final edits on Blood Drive.
