My novella Mediterrania was released on Amazon one year ago today. This story started out as a ten thousand word short (but not that short) story. I had two beta readers read it, and they both agreed that they wanted more.
So I went back to my outline and expanded the hell out of it. I knew what to add and where to add it, and I ended up with over twenty thousand more words when it was all said and done.
Mediterrania is about Kiz, a mermaid of her Prince’s harem in the titular kingdom. The story mainly follows her and the three other mermaids of the harem as news reaches them of a princess from Atlantis, coming to wed the king’s son, joining Mediterrania and Atlantis as allies.
But this means exile for the harem, and not one of them wants that.
This was the first time I mixed sex and violence. I followed up almost a year later with Envy, which was sexier and more violent. And I was proud of the finished product. The full story was one worth telling.
The story was actually inspired by a friend, Kiz, and her mermaid Cosplay. It’s funny where ideas come from. That little spark she caused was epic.
I just had that story on my mind today, so I thought I’d share a bit about it. If you want to check it out or my other books, you can do so here: budgiebigelow.com/ebooks .
